Six BISD Schools to Provide Tax Help

For the first time, all six BISD high schools will participate in the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program during the upcoming tax season. Junior and senior business/accounting students at these campuses will train and become certified as volunteer tax preparers through the IRS VITA program. The students will prepare and electronically file basic tax returns for free for those with earned income under $53,000. Parents with children applying for college need to get their tax returns prepared as early as possible in February so that they can complete the on-line Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). More information regarding schedules and a list of what to bring to the tax appointment will be released at a later date.
