BISD Earns National Award

Brownsville ISD is the recipient of the 2014 School District of the Year Award by the National Hispanic Institute (NHI). BISD earned the award for taking the lead in providing special support to young men and women who will play significant future roles as professionals and trained community leaders. Of the many schools that support NIH efforts, Brownsville ISD was selected because it displayed the greatest commitment. Dr. Montoya will receive the award at the NHI Alumni Banquet and Awards Ceremony to be held on Saturday, November 15 in Dallas, Texas. In the letter of award notification, NHI cited the long history of individuals who have been educated by BISD schools and are now successful leaders.
