BISD No Longer on AYP Status

Great news for our school district! Officials with the Texas Education Agency have clarified that Brownsville ISD’s 2012 Annual Yearly Performance (AYP) status has returned to the Title I stage status of “None.” The district is no longer in any Title I stage. This welcome news came as a result of the district’s successful appeal of the 2012 AYP results. BISD appealed its AYP ratings due to the loss of several hundred answer documents at the state level that adversely impacted the district’s rating as well as the ratings of several elementary and middle schools. The district AYP appeal also improved the ratings for Castaneda, Sharp and Resaca Elementary Schools.
