4 BISD Teams Bound for DI Globals

A total of 14 Brownsville ISD teams represented the South Border Bridge Destination Imagination (DI) Region at the Texas DI State competition held on April 1-2, 2016 at Anna High School in Anna, Texas. Over 430 teams participated. Four BISD teams qualified to participate in the Global Finals in Knoxville, Tennessee in May by earning places 1-6 at the state competition. Benavides Elementary placed first in the Get a Clue Challenge, Ortiz Elementary placed third in the In Plain Sight Challenge, Veterans Memorial ECHS placed second, and Keller Elementary placed sixth in the Close Encounters Challenge. DI competition encourages teams of learners to focus, frame challenges, take risks, and have fun while incorporating STEM, the arts, and service learning. The participants learn patience, flexibility, persistence, ethics, respect for others and their ideas, and the collaborative problem solving process. The Global Finals is the world’s largest celebration of creativity with representation from over 18 countries. Congratulations to all BISD DI teams and their sponsors.
