New School Buses on the Road
On Thursday, December 5 at 10 AM, Brownsville ISD displayed several new school buses in the parking lot of the Administration Building located at 1900 Price Road. Representatives from the district’s Transportation Department were available to comment.
District officials took decisive action to replace over one fourth of its 300 bus fleet last school year. As a result, the district recently took delivery of 18 new special needs buses. Another 42 regular buses are also starting to arrive and 12 additional regular buses will be delivered later in the year for a total of 72 buses. All the new buses are manufactured by Thomas Built Buses, Inc. out of Raleigh, North Carolina. The $6.4 million school bus upgrade was approved by the Board of Trustees last May. The district is also implementing an automatic bus replacement schedule to ensure a continual upgrade of the entire school district bus fleet over the next few years. View the press release.
